Reading Pat Buchanan's incredibly obnoxious rant
comparing homosexuality to alchoholism made me realize why the media...contrary to Buchanan's claims...seem to be obsessing over Kerry's comments...and we don't get it.
See, for those of us who see homosexuality as simply a different way of being, instead of a disease, Kerry's comments were generous, thoughtful and sincere.
But if you're someone for whom the word "lesbian" is an epithet, instead of a description, then Kerry insulted her and honor must be served.
Of course, if the word "lesbian" is that bad to you, you've got some serious issues.
But as an exercise, let's try a different word:
We're all God's children, Bob. And I think if you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a gardener, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as.
See? A nice thing to say.
Don't we all feel better now?
