Here's hoping that this week was the worst week we willever see. First Blaster, which explointed the DCOM holethat we warned about months ago. Then Welchia, whichtried to fix the problem, but caused so much trafficthat it was just as destructive.
Then Dumaru, another supposed patch, which turned out tobe a virus.
Then Squirm, which implanted a trojan on victim's computers.
And then SoBig.F. The previous most virulent virus, Klez, peaked at around one infection per 138 internet emails.
SoBig hit 1 in 17 on Thursday. Then, Friday evening, it begandownloading code to all it's victims. Security experts wereable to warn the ISPs that hosted the malicious sites to take themoffline, and only one of the 20 apparent download sites was actuallyavailable on Friday afternoon.
But if you think that this is the worst yet, think again.
Remember, Blaster didn't actually DO anything. It was moreof a proof-of-concept.
Update your systems. Install Anti-Virus software. Becomepart of the solution, because otherwise you're part of the problem.
