WIth no definitive proof either way, it's hard to tell if the AWOL story is going to have any teeth to it.
But someone else who should know has stated that Bush
did not serve. Bob "Buck" Mintz, who was a pilot for the 187th at Dannelly AFB, said he was "looking for him" because "I was a young bachelor then. I was looking for somebody to prowl around with." (Apparently, Junior's reputation had preceded him). Mintz states unequivocally that Bush never showed up...and he knows because Mintz "was looking for him".

Update -
Calpundit has copies of the untorn copies of the torn document, and indications that Junior was tranferred to the Air Reserve Force for disciplinary reasons, for which he earned ARF points for.....well, it doesn't seem that the ARF actually requires anything. The thing that makes the ARF undesirable is apparently that it is POSSIBLE that pilots in the ARF may be called to duty. Of course, that didn't actually happen, and Junior "fulfilled his duty" by being....punished for dereliction of duty???
It's good to be young and rich in America.
