More on the Plame scandal
It's ironic that BushCo, notoriously closed mouth and with the reputation of not allowing leaks, is now about to be brought down by a leak. And not just any leak. This isn't just bad mouthingan opponent.Someone (Read: Karl Rove) in the White House has committed a FEDERAL FELONY and put a CIA OPERATIVE at risk. Oh, yeah, when you read that she's just 'an analyst', 2 points:
- Analyst or not, it's a federal crime to 'out' a CIA agent
- Larry Johnson, former counter-terrorism official and Republican,has publically stated that he worked with Plame, and she was not 'just an analyst'. She was UNDER COVER FOR THREE DECADES.
And for those who think this may just be a single, rouge person who can be excised and be done with it, listen to Nina Totenberg:
The White house asked for and got permission earlier this week to wait a day before issuing a directive to preserve all documents and logs which led one seasoned federal prosecutor to wonder why they wanted to wait a day, and who at the justice department told them they could do that, and why?
This better not be done in half measures. Someone needs to go to jail for this.
