Well, we're starting to see lots of 'copycat' phishing schemes, obviously the results of amateurs downloading and trying out the phishing kits available online.
It's also obvious that the people doing this aren't native English speakers.
Examples:
- "Recently there have been a large number of cyber attacks pointing our database servers."
- "Please use our secure counter server to indicate that you have signed on, please click the link bellow:"
- "As the Technical service of Citi have been currently updating the software"
And this one's great, since the first paragraph is actually written well, but they fall completely apart with:
Please take 5 minutes out of your online experience and renew your records and you will not run into any future problems with the online service. However, failure to update your profile will result in account deletation. For more information about how to protect your account, please visit
U.S. Bank Security Center - Notification expires on Octomber 09, 2004.
On the other had, the eBay email above is scary, since it actually was written by a native english speaker. Other than the misspelled 'received', it's well done. I have the feeling that they're going to take a lot of people in.
