It's just not the same
This morning on Morning Edition, Frank DeFord's commentary was a little different. Instead of a recorded commentary, he and Steve Inskeep had a conversation.
Now, I think they were using the Olympics as a cover, but my guess is this was a test to see if it would work.
Steve Inskeep is a competent host - but he's no Bob Edwards.
But more importantly, Frank DeFord is no Red Barber. At least he didn't try to talk about the flowers outside his house.
On a related note, while I was gone, Bob Edwards decided that NPR done him wrong. Maybe it's time to invest in an XM radio.
