How low can the media sink?
While watching West Wing last night I was surprised to see NBC shrink the screen to put a "News Crawl" on. Happens all the time during sporting events to update other scores, but I hadn't seen a prime time entertainment show interrupted like that except for election results. So I, of course, paid attention. Maybe there was a terror attack, or some other big news.
"From NBC News....A Grand Jury in Santa Barbara has indicted Michael Jackson on Sex Abuse Charges..."
Oh, COME ON. He's a freaking ENTERTAINER. If I cared about MJ Freakazoid, I'd be watching the E! Channel.
The media in the country are filling our heads with this crap and ignoring Halliburton. And Afganistan. Mr "I like ducking questions" President. Legislation to allow medical workers to refuse treatment to gays. What about Valerie Plame? Our incredibly disfunctional White House?
We're so screwed. And the media is encouraging it.
