Diebold has
stopped trying to (mis)use the DMCA to sue the websites that linked to the internal documents pointing out the security problems with their electronic voting machines.
I heard a report on the radio that the elections board is testing the different voting machines by having them available for people to try at different malls over the next three days. I can't find any mention of this on the web anywhere, if anyone finds out the schedule please post a comment.
There's an extremely well-written and insightful article at the
New York Times on the issues with verifiable voting records. His conclusion:
The point is that you don't have to believe in a central conspiracy to worry that partisans will take advantage of an insecure, unverifiable voting system to manipulate election results. Why expose them to temptation?
Exactly. NJ Rep Rush Holt has introduced a bill (HR2239) requiring the evoting machines leave a paper trail. Contact your representative and encourage them to support the bill.
(BTW - there's another bill HR2289. It is a NON-SOLUTION. Dont get confused -- make sure the it's Rush Holt's bill)
