How do you stop the Messenger service on an XP machine? I'd like to know.
Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services
Find Messenger
Stop it
Set it to not start on boot.
If you're not on a Corporate network that uses popups to tell you print jobs are done, there is NO REASON to run this. Another way Windoze installs insecurely.
